Aspiring Communities Together (ACT), tackle persistent social and economic disadvantages and educational underachievement in the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) community across Sheffield, mainly focusing on the deprived neighbourhood of Fir Vale and Burngreave.

Services include:

• Healthy Living Centre:  featuring a membership or pay as you go gym, classes, café lounge and alternative therapies.
• Adult education classes:  community training provider delivering a range of ESOL and basic skills courses.
• Work with young people :Working with young BME ho have become disengaged from school, repeatedly excluded or have become involved in anti-social behaviour in the Burngreave/Fir Vale area.  ACT offer educational and pastoral activities designed to boost a young person’s self esteem and skills which can also include working with families. Referral’s can be through local schools, agencies or through the family or young person concerned.
• Older people project: A partnership with the Muslim Elders Support Project (MESP).  Older people can be supported in accessing services, resources and facilities they need to maintain their independence and quality of life.
• Arabic Language School: a service which ensures young people develop essential
• Fir Vale Preschool: a 38 place OFSTED registered setting which provides childcare for working parents or parents who access training.

On a Tuesday evening Action for Barnsley run a kitchen , where the homeless or less fortunate, struggling family’s can come, they receive a hot meal and dessert, clothing , hygiene products , sleeping bag , roll mat.
If advice is needed on where they can get other help and services Action for Barnsley can signpost in the right direction, or make calls to try and secure temporary accomodation .

Parkgate Young People's Accommodation and Support Services (YPASS) help young people with a range of support needs to help them prepare for an independent tenancy in a nurturing environment where they feel safe and secure. This service works with a variety of complex and specialist groups of vulnerable people: such as those with substance misuse, mental illness, victims of abuse, and young people. In addition to helping people secure and maintain accommodation, YPASS also facilitate personal development; access to other services and opportunities; support and opportunity to find meaningful occupation, and overall to help people change their lives for the better: reducing the cycle of hopelessness, risky behavior, and homelessness. Support and accommodation for up to 55 young people. No self referrals required.

Addaction Sheffield, aim to reduce drug-related offending behaviour and engaging people in treatment. Track and work with individuals who have tested positive for opiates or cocaine through the criminal justice system with the aim of preparing and supporting service users to access and remain in treatment.

Adullam, provides quality housing, delivers tailored support plans, training and education opportunities to help people meet their potential. Groups included include asylum seekers, ex-offenders, expectant and new mums, people with mental health issues, recovering addicts, survivors of domestic abuse, those homeless or at risk of becoming homelessness, and young people leaving care.

• Supported housing across the UK in 30 multi occupancy facilities and some self-contained flats houses & bed sits.

• Learning and Engagement coordinators and tenancy support sustainment officers to work with tenants, residents and services uses to help them achieve their potential by delivering sessions on:
  • Awareness and access to services
  • Suitable accommodation and support
  • Reducing repeat homelessness
  • Eliminating the need to rough sleep

• Floating support, delivered as a flexible housing-related service which helps service users to achieve and maintain their full potential independent living skills, regardless of their level or complexity or support needs. Support can include:
  • Income/expenditure work, money management, debt reduction and encouraging saving
  • Signposting to other services
  • Citizens becoming further integrated into their community

• Specialist Support – the running of projects that are tailor-made for certain client groups. These groups included: young people, those with alcohol or substance misuse, those who have been affected by gambling addiction. Co-production as part of this, getting tenants and residents involved from the inside knowledge they have of situations within the project are having to deal with.
  • Running of mutual aid groups such as Narcotics Anonymous
  • Training, including Self-Management and Recovery (SMART), NVQ qualifications, Reduction and Motivation Programme (RAMP), Recovery in Cheshire East (RICE)
  • Close relationships with schools, college and youth support networks
  • Partnerships working with gambling addiction charity Gordon Moody.

Age UK Rotherham is an independent local charity that helps to deliver services and activities for older people in Rotherham aimed at helping people stay connected and engaged within their local communities and Rotherham in general. Age UK Rotherham offers a free and confidential information and advice service for older people, their families and carers as well as Linkline, which is a telephone service available on weekdays (excluding Bank holidays) which provides older people with a friendly phone call each weekday morning to offer reassurance and support to help alleviate loneliness and isolation.

Ageing Well Rehabilitation Service is a Physiotherapy Clinic and Wellness centre in Sheffield who  help you move better, feel better and live better. Services include, group chair based exercise rehabilitation classes perfect for recovery after surgery or if you are worried about falling and your balance has been affected. 1:1 exercise sessions. 1:1 Physiotherapy rehabilitation sessions. Home visit rehabilitation sessions also available.

Agency for Culture and Change Management (ACCM) is a grass-roots leading practical and Policy institute whose mission is to help local people, individuals, organisations and governments to uphold just, securely sustainable, researched, rights, freedoms and prosperous communities. ACCM provides a welcoming environment with support services such as arts and crafts, a free meal and dedicated recreation areas with pool tables and table tennis, as well as homework assistance. Additional services include an after school club, a nursery, coffee mornings, a lunch club and  a homework club.

Provides tea and coffee and accessible toilets,  and weekly activities for children and adults.

Apna Haq support women and girls from black and minority ethnic (BME) communities who are living in Rotherham to escape violence, including domestic violence. Services offered include drop ins, support groups, domestic violence outreach, financial support, floating support and a training and development programme to support individuals to develop life skills and employment opportunities. A recognised provider of housing services for communities in Sheffield and surrounding areas. Where possible, they use a new homes building matrix that takes into account the needs of local communities.

Ashiana Sheffield provides services to support Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugee (BAMER) adults, children and young people fleeing domestic and sexual abuse, including forced marriage, human trafficking, female genital mutilation, gang violence and ‘honour’ based violence. With information available in 12 languages.  Services include:

• Pratical and emotional support
• Accommodation for women and children who have survived human trafficking.

The Aspire drug and alcohol service helps adults who have problems with drugs or alcohol. They offer support such as catching issues early, helping people safely stop using drugs or alcohol in their own communities, and working in groups to get better together.

The drop-in service is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9am-5pm and Monday and Thursday 9am-7pm.

ASSIST Sheffield provides support  to people who are seeking sanctuary and who have been refused asylum. The charity provides accommodation, information and other support.
