ASSIST Sheffield provides support to people who are seeking sanctuary and who have been refused asylum. The charity provides accommodation, information and other support.
Support available through ASSIST Sheffield include:
- Providing emergency accommodation
- Arranging temporary accommodation in one of their houses or with host families
- Providing small weekly welfare payments for things like food
- Providing bus passes which clients can use to attend medical, legal and Home Office appointments
- Helping people access other sources of help, including other charities, Food Banks (they sometimes provide Food Bank vouchers) and the Mulberry Health Clinic.

Barnsley Churches Drop-In provide a bag of ready to eat food and a hot drink 5 nights a week (not Tuesdays or Saturdays) from the vestry at St Mary's Church, Barnsley. When appropriate we will also supply sleeping bags, tents, rucksacks and essential clothing.

That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. Welcome Boxes : City Church Sheffield welcomes newly arriving refugees and asylum seekers in Sheffield by providing them with a "Welcome Box" containing practical items and offering ongoing support as they adjust to their new life in the city, country, and culture.
Warm Space : The Jubilee Centre is opened up most Fridays for free refreshments, activities and lunch. It is a warm space where everyone is welcome. Table tennis and snooker are on offer, along with less energetic activities like jigsaws, and just having a natter. A quiet office working space is also available.
Parcels are free of charge but limited to one per person over a 3-week cycle. This food bank supports residents of Askern, Norton and Campsall.
Every Saturday we have a youth club where we offer warm food and a safe, relaxing and warm environment

Parcels can only be given out if the individual has been issued a voucher by an authorised voucher holder, such as St Leger Homes. Parcels contain food to last 3 days. This food bank supports residents with a DN7 post code.
3 days free supply of non-perishable food in a crisis situation in exchange for a voucher.
Vouchers can be obtained following an assessment of need from the Civic Offices, Citizens Advice and other support workers.
A maximum of 3 vouchers are allowed per client, with the possibility of extending support in exceptional circumstances.
Food is accessed by voucher only.
Food parcels are free of charge and contain food to last 3 days. This food bank supports residents of Edlington and Warmsworth.
Fir Vale Food Bank is open on Thursdays and Our Community meal is open on Thursdays from 12:30pm to 2:30pm
Referrals request must be received via email by 4:30pm Wednesday to be processed for collection Thursday. Please request a referral form from firvalefoodbank@gmail.com
· Emails will only be monitored on Monday – Tuesday and Wednesdays. Referrals received after 4:30pm on Wednesday will not be processed until Monday of the following week.
· Parcels will be available for collection between 12 noon to 2pm on Thursdays and can be collected by the client, support worker or similar representative. (Referral clients wishing to join us for the community meal should arrive after 12:30pm)
