Provides supported accommodation services for homeless young people across Barnsley. Although we are unable to take direct referrals into these services, feel free to contact our offices.
It also runs the free-phone Centrepoint Helpline, a national service for any young person aged 16-25 who is worried about homelessness.
We are using the internationally-evaluated Upstream digital survey to identify 11-16 year olds who are at hidden risk of homelessness.
We are providing evidence-backed support based on the individual school and community needs:
- Family mediation and support
- Individual holistic health support
- Homelessness prevention programmes, including parental support
We aim to start small and build on this as we secure further support and additional funding.
As the UK's leading youth homelessness charity, we run over 60 accommodation services. We work in 15 boroughs in London, Sunderland, Manchester, Bradford and Barnsley. Our services aim to provide security to young people and inform on the causes of homelessness.
We help put young people on the path to lasting employment through employability programmes, functional skills training and other learning initiatives.
We provide a dedicated helpline, and financial and legal advice for young people at risk of or experiencing homelessness.
The Independent Living Programme provides young people with a home to call their own. It is our solution to breaking the cycle of young homelessness for good.
At all times, our overall goal is to prepare homeless young people to live independently. To help young people take the big step, we prepare young people for moving on while they’re with us. And we continue to support them for six months after they've left.
Centrepoint campaigns to influence national and local government policy that affects homeless young people. We focus on areas of policy including housing, family and health.
We collaborate with third sector and local authority partners to help prevent homelessness nationwide. And our Partnering Membership scheme pulls together a national network of over 100 organisations supporting homeless young people.
